How to Use Focused Inbox in Outlook Print

Overview

Focused Inbox separates your important emails from less important ones, helping you stay organized and ensuring you never miss critical messages.

Step 1 - Turn On Focused Inbox

  1. In Outlook, click the View tab
  2. Click Show Focused Inbox

Step 2 - Review Your Emails

Your inbox will now show two tabs:

  • Focused - important emails Outlook determines need your attention
  • Other - newsletters, notifications, and less urgent mail

Step 3 - Move Emails Between Tabs

  1. Right-click any email and choose Move to Focused or Move to Other
  2. Outlook will remember your preference and automatically sort future messages from that sender accordingly

Notes

  • Focused Inbox is available in Outlook for Windows, Mac, and Outlook on the Web
  • The more you move emails between tabs, the better Outlook becomes at sorting them correctly over time
  • To turn Focused Inbox off, return to the View tab and click Show Focused Inbox again to toggle it off
