Overview
If Outlook search is not returning results, follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Step 1 - Update Outlook
- Go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now
- Install any available updates and restart Outlook
Step 2 - Rebuild the Search Index (Windows)
- Go to Control Panel > Indexing Options
- Click Advanced
- Click Rebuild under the Troubleshooting section
Step 3 - Check Cached Exchange Mode
- In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings
- Select your account and click Change
- Ensure Use Cached Exchange Mode is enabled
Notes
- Rebuilding the search index may take some time depending on the size of your mailbox
- Search should work properly once reindexing is complete
