Overview

Avast Free Antivirus displays various popup notifications, offers, and upgrade prompts that can become disruptive. This guide walks you through how to silence or reduce these notifications.

Step 1 - Open Avast Settings

  1. Locate the Avast icon in your system tray (bottom right corner of your taskbar)
  2. Right-click the icon and select Open Avast
  3. Click the Menu button (three dots) in the top right corner
  4. Select Settings

Step 2 - Turn Off General Notifications

  1. In the Settings menu
  2. Click Notifications
  3. Under Pop-up notification treatment, select Silent mode

Step 3 - Disable Avast Offers and Promotions

  1. Still under General, click Personal Privacy
  2. Uncheck the following options:
    • Share app-usage data with Avast...

Notes

  • Silent mode will suppress popups while still allowing Avast to protect your computer in the background
  • Avast Free will still display upgrade prompts from time to time as these are built into the free version and cannot be fully eliminated without upgrading to a paid plan
  • If popups persist after following these steps, consider whether a paid antivirus solution might be a better fit - contact Twilight I.T. for recommendations
